10 Tools every Recruiter should try in 2024
Lesser-known recruitment tools you should try this year!
Recruitment is hard. There's no debate about that.
The past few years haven't been the easiest for recruiters. The market situation is tough, and both freelancers and large IT outsourcing companies are grappling with recruitment slowdowns.
These years have also brought significant changes, especially in the context of AI development and learning. Many recruiters, in the face of mass layoffs and the challenging market, simply need to accomplish more in less time.
Fortunately, there are plenty of tools on the market that can support our work. Some use artificial intelligence, while others don't. Some tools replace certain recruiter tasks, while others simply streamline their work.
What are recruitment tools?
Recruitment tools are software solutions or platforms designed to optimize the hiring process. They assist recruiters and hiring managers in tasks like sourcing candidates, managing applications, scheduling interviews, and even evaluating candidates' skills.
Popular recruitment tools include applicant tracking systems (ATS), job boards, candidate relationship management (CRM) systems, and AI-powered tools for resume screening and interview scheduling. Those are tools that all of us know and use on daily basis, agree?
Today, I would like to show you examples to extend your basic list!
Why should i even try new tools?
The answer isn’t so simple. Sometimes it’s hard to step outside your comfort zone and try new solutions, but it’s worth breaking that habit because:
- You can get more work done in the same amount of time.
- It helps you stay competitive in a fast-moving market.
- It improves your overall "recruiter experience" (sounds funny, but developers use the "dev experience" buzzword all the time).
- You’ll free up time to focus on other non-recruitment activities.
Why Do You Include Non-Recruitment Tools on a List for Recruiters?
When creating this list, I wanted to feature less known and less obvious tools. Nearly every recruiter uses an ATS—that's a given. My goal was to showcase additional tools that can enhance your workflow without clashing with the essential tools you use daily.
The list below is a subjective selection of tools that are worth testing. I aimed to include a mix of lesser-known apps, so both industry newcomers and seasoned professionals can find something useful. While some are specifically designed for recruiters, others aren’t but can still be applied effectively to recruitment.
The 10 not so obvious tools for the Hiring Process in 2024
1. Boolean Genius
This is so simple yet incredibly helpful site. Instead of generating boolean strings manually, you can enter the keywords you want to include and exclude, and select the platform where you want to search for candidates. Options include LinkedIn, GitHub, and Dribbble. Boolean Genius will automatically generate a Boolean String that will show you the desired profiles in your browser.
Pros:
- Extremly intuitive
- Does not require any login
Cons:
- Works only for three platforms: LinkedIn, GitHub, and Dribbble
Pricing:
It's free
Best for:
Talent Sourcers activly using X-ray Search
2. Screen Studio
In B2B sales, it's common to record a video where you discuss the cold lead situation, suggest solutions, and invite them for a conversation. Why not bring this to recruitment? For niche roles with fewer candidates, sending a personalized video can significantly increase your chances of getting a response. Screen Studio allows you to record your screen on Mac devices. Their roadmap includes creating shareable links. Soon, this will be a great one-time payment alternative to apps like Loom.
UPDATE: At the time of publishing this article, Screen Studio has updated its pricing. I advise checking the current pricing and available features on their page.
Pros:
- Beautiful UI
- Automated transcription
Cons:
- Works only on MacOS devices
Pricing:
89$ for lifetime license
Best for:
Recruiters who want to stand out with personalized video outreach
3. Highlight this
Highlight this is a simple yet work-enhancing extension for Google Chrome. You know that feeling after hours of searching for the perfect candidate, when everything on the screen starts blending together and your brain stops functioning? Highlight This helps draw your attention to relevant content as soon as you enter a page. For example, if I'm looking for a Backend Developer, I can highlight words like Java, Python, Spring Boot, Maven, AWS. Browsing profiles instantly becomes easier!
Pros:
- Simply to start and use
- Auto-refreshes highlights on page reload and content changes
- All data stored locally
Cons:
- Outdated UI
Free plan available:
Yes, limited to 200 words and limited highlighting styles
Best for:
Professionals who source candidates daily
4. dotLinker
Speaking of browsing profiles, when working in a group, you’ve probably noticed that several recruiters sometimes unnecessarily message the same candidate. Or maybe, while browsing LinkedIn or Google search results, you’ve wondered if you’ve already analyzed a certain profile today. The dotLinker extension helps with this, allowing you to mark LinkedIn profiles, leave notes, and assign profiles to specific processes, statuses, or groups.
dotLinker is a great alternative to LinkedIn Recruiter and LinkedIn Recruiter Lite when building your own sourcing pipelines. The best part is, you can share your notes with the entire team directly in the browser! No more wasting time analyzing the same profiles repeatedly!
Pros:
- Fresh UI
- Allow to work with team
- Bring your ATS directly into browser
- Chrome Extension and micro-ATS to track marked profiles
Cons:
- Works only for Google Chrome browsers
- Support sourcing only on LinkedIn
Free plan available:
Yes, currently dotLinker is free

Currently, the beta version is shared for free
Best for:
Recruiters, salespeople, and anyone building a network on LinkedIn
5. Get Email
Get Email is another extension for Google Chrome, and it does exactly what its name suggests. Get Email has scanned thousands of email addresses available online and, based on how email formats look in different companies, it can provide you with almost anyone's email!
Pros:
- Accurate emails
- Multiple integrations available
Cons:
- Quite Expensive
- Outdated UI

6. Snov.io
Snov.io is a tool for lead generation and cold mailing campaigns. It has its own LinkedIn Chrome extension that works similarly to Get Email. With it, you can transfer candidates directly from LinkedIn to your scheduled email campaign and then send emails to all of them. You can also use its built-in search engine to find the right candidates.
Imagine a situation where you start a new recruitment process. You have a list of 300 candidates from a previous process who gave consent to be contacted. You want to reach them as quickly as possible. Snov.io is perfect for this!
Pros:
- Great all-in-one app for mass outreach
- LinkedIn Chrome extension
Cons:

Professionals doing mass email outreach who need an all-in-one tool
7. Juicebox (People GPT)
Speaking of finding candidates, searching for passive candidates using AI is becoming increasingly popular. There are already several tools on the market, but JuiceBox is considered the most accurate, delivering the best and most relevant results. The principle is simple: you "assign" sourcing to the AI model, and it searches the web and its databases to present the most suitable candidates to you.
Pros:
- Easier to reach candidates
- Saves time on search
Cons:
- Results may not always be accurate
Free plan available:
Yes, with limited free searches
Pricing:
Starts from 79$ / month
Best for:
Every recruiter activly sourcing on LinkedIn
8. CV Blinder
Anyone who has worked in IT outsourcing knows how tedious and time-consuming it is to prepare blinds (anonymized CVs). For me, it was always frustrating to manually copy-paste and prepare documents, especially when I had a long list of tasks hanging over me. CV Blinder can take this task off your hands. The process is simple: you upload a candidate's CV, and after a few seconds, you get a ready-to-download blind. Depending on your settings, CV Blinder can also generate semi-blinds or non-anonymized profiles. You can upload your own template with your logo and branding. Sending candidate profiles in your company's format is a mark of professionalism that recruiters shouldn’t overlook!
Pros:
- Saving massive amounts of time
- Own customizable template
- Unbelivable Cheap
Cons:
- Adding your own template require contacting support
Free plan available:
Yes, 10 first credits are free
Pricing:
Starts from $1 / conversion
Best for:
Every professional performing copy-paste tasks to prepare candidates profiles
9. Hacker Rank
Assessing candidates' technical skills is challenging. Depending on your process, it's another step (or even a few) that extends your time to hire and involves more people in the process. It’s not easy to determine if a candidate fits culturally within the company while also evaluating their technical ability for the new role. A one-hour interview with a technical recruiter is often insufficient to truly assess a candidate's skills.
HackerRank helps companies build strong tech teams by enabling them to create custom developer tests that assess practical skills. Alternatively, you can use pre-built, professionally developed tests. Candidates receive a link to complete their tasks at their convenience, and you get a summary of all the results. So easy!
Pros:
- Shortens and simplifies the recruitment process
- A great alternative to pair programming, which many developers dislike
Cons:
- Limited number of tests per plan
Pricing:
start from $100/month
Best for:
Every profiessional taking care of freshly hire employess.
10. Navi Hire
Recruitment is essential, but every experienced HR professional knows how important the post-recruitment process is. I’m talking about onboarding. A well-executed onboarding process can significantly impact a new hire's morale, efficiency, and willingness to stay longer in the company. On the other hand, a chaotic, disorganized onboarding experience is a red flag for candidates, prompting them to look for another job even as they start, undermining your recruitment efforts.
Navi Hire helps with organized, seamless employee onboarding. It’s a new app on the market, currently available in Early Access.
Pros:
- Tracks onboarding progress with clarity and confidentiality
- Collects feedback and improves processes
- Ready-to-help support
Cons:
- Early access may still have some features under development
Pricing:
You need to schedule a call to learn about pricing::
Best for:
Professionals responsible for onboarding new employees
Conclusion
Thanks for reading to the end. I’ve tried to present recruitment tools that won’t replace your ATS but can help you in other areas. The list included both AI tools and more traditional ones. I hope that after reading this post, you’ll start using at least one of them to make your daily work easier.
If you know of any other tools that should be mentioned, feel free to contact me—maybe they’ll be included in the next roundup!
